About Us

The Lazy Eight R/C Club was founded in the early 1960’s to enjoy and promote the sport of building and flying radio controlled model aircraft. Over the years, the membership has grown to nearly 90 members. The club is a charter member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).

Although most if our members are from the Fulton and Montgomery county area, our membership reaches to Herkimer, Saratoga, Schenectady and other counties of the Capital Region. Our diverse membership comes from many walks of life, but they all share the love of building and flying radio controlled model airplanes and helicopters and enjoy sharing their vast knowledge and experience to help all others learn all aspects of the hobby.

Our club fly’s all sizes and types of model airplanes, helicopters and multi rotor craft. Some are powered two and four cycle gasoline or glow fuel engines and some are powered by electric motors. The larger aircraft are powered by large size gasoline engines.

Our club is one of the most active clubs in the area. We have scheduled monthly fun fly’s, an annual club picnic, a Neighborhood Club Breakfast, fun fly’s with other area clubs, a Forth of July Campout Weekend and a Christmas Party. Giant Scale Air Show on the 3rd full weekend in August.

Spectators are always welcome at our flying field and as guests at our meetings!
